Before birthing his blasted acid house identity, Bobby Draino drummed for various synth-punked groups around Vancouver, and some of that scorched-earth live energy bleeds through the five primordial bangers comprising his vinyl debut Brain Drain. Tracked live through one channel of a space echo straight to his computer, Draino’s overdriven drum machines, fried acid grit, bass damage and blowntone sequencer patterns are fused into a radical and weird debased mutant house. The EP’s five tracks are the culmination of two years of demo workshopping, TR-606 and 303 autodidacticism and warehouse party spelunks—all savvy tactics for developing a shredding, progressively singular style, which Draino has in spades. Brain Drain is one of the most awesomely wrecked and raw Silk slabs to date from a West Coast wiz worth watching.

Having already released music on respected labels such as Dolly, Philpot, Mathematics, Mule Electronic, Versatile, Ostgut Ton, New Kanada, Creme Organization, Nonplus+, and Still Music, – Basic Soul Unit delivers 3 tracks on the inaugural release of Lab.our Music, the label he has started with long time friend and dj partner Jason Ulrich. Well it has been a huge first year for Libra Mix. What started as a small soundcloud page over at soundcloud.com has expanded to a webpage independent of soundcloud with over 23 hits per day in just 6 months. While it's hard for us to fathom the runaway success of libramix.org we are remaining humble and with our feet on the ground. Trying to integrate our website onto the internet is a challenge we face every day, especially since becoming independent, but thanks to our veteran coder and web programmer (Hi Claudio!) we think we've managed to keep Libramix at the very forefront in the cutthroat business of archival deejay mix pages from the Fraser Valley. Thanks to everyone who has put us in the "links section" of their own websites, it really makes a difference! Keep 'em comin'.
But enough with the sentimental speech, let's get to some music!
To end the year 2013 we are extremely proud and honoured to host parts one AND two of Mood Hut Mix #9 mixed "in Hut" by Dee-j Phe. You can't hear this anywhere else and as far as we are concerned, it doesn't get any hotter than this. This is 100% unreleased material from the Mood Hut. As usual, you can right click and "save as" on this mix and any mix on this page - for free! For tracklist call 1800 - DeeJPhe. Not sure if that number works but try it!
Thanks again for checkin' out Libra Mix.org! See you in the new year for more interesting mixes from the Canadian Riviera.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night is the second EP from Golden
Teacher’s sessions at The Green Door studio, recorded a few weeks after
their first. Recorded straight to tape in one take, this record sees the
group and its varying collaborators explore darker, hypnotic song
structures with a heavy emphasis on polyrhythmic grooves and 6/8 time
signatures. Again the music is completely improvised with dubbed-out
production and mixed live.
This is heavy, rhythmic dance music. If you are looking for slick,
smooth, generic computer made tunes, this release probably isn’t for
